jw's always use tragic events to emphasize their point of view. I can imagine that jw's will spin the stories of those two young women who were gunned down in Georgia and North Carolina to support their rules regarding attending college.

Did anyone see 48 hours mystery last night?
by B_Deserter ini grew up in the same town as kent leppink.
my older brother actually knew him personally.
the sad thing is that what happened to kent was used by my parents (and probably other local jw's) as a cautionary tale as to what happens when you live "in the world.

Witness Propaganda= Hitler lost the War = He persecuted the Witnesses!!

Hitler lost the war because an X-JW named Dwight Eisenhower opened up a can of whup-ass. A proud part of your X-JW heritage.

You could have but you would have gotten shot. While the alarm was going off. I'm a good shot with my .357.
A kindred spirit except I have a .40.

Zone Overseer to visit Canada
by Connaughty ini understand that the zone overseer is scheduled to give a talk in canada.
many assembly halls and being booked to receive the telephone hook-ups.
do you think that he's coming because he found out that some of our youth are attending university, and he's coming to kick our canadian butts?

What is a Zone Overseer? I've heard of Circuit and District Overseers (or are they Servants? Its been a while). The word zone is an odd one to use. It brings to mind terms like free-fire zone, de-militarized zone, and twilight zone.

Maybe she thinks everything that comes out of her mouth is a speech. "Good morning, Bill." Speech 1. "I'll have my eggs over easy." Speech 2. And so on. She has a sharp, legalistic mind. I'm sure she could easily defend her statement.
Come on Ohio and Texas. Do the right thing on Tuesday. The reader can interpret what is right.

If any of my jw relatives said I was out of their will, I'd say "ditto." It is a two way street.

ARE YOU PRO-UNION OR ANTI-UNION?
by Mary inwould you rather work in a unionized or non-unionized environment?
the place where i work recently voted 'no', we don't want a union in here (after being harassed by a very large union for the last 5 years).
there were some who voted 'yes', but the majority of us voted 'no' and those that were pro-union are quite pissed off that the rest of us 'fail to see the light'.

I'm currently a union worker. From my experience, the biggest problem with a union is that the officials have more interest in political work than labor issues. My union recently negotiated a new contract with the employer that had some god awful changes in the language. The issues had to do with seniority and workplace safety, not finance, and the changes affect a minority of the union membership. While the minority were ready to walk over the issues, the union officials ran around to the majority telling them, "The contract is a good one. The changes don't affect you. Vote yes on this contract." Their actions ran contrary to the union cry, "An injury to one is an injury to all!" Anyway, the vote came and the membership approved the contract. Right after the vote, the union officials went to Iowa to work on the Clinton campaign. I suspect that is why they were in such a rush to get our contract out of the way.
I've read a number of posts claiming that union workers are lazy and incompetent. I would argue, sucessfully by the way, that those incompetent and lazy employees are managed by equally lazy and incompetent decision makers, many of them clueless MBA's.

Is Global Warming ......Over?

Don't you people know anything? Colder winters are predicted by the global warming models. And warmer winters. And colder summers. And warmer summers. And droughts. And floods. Models predict bigger hurricanes as well as fewer or no hurricanes. No matter what the weather is today or tomorrow, the global warming models predict it so global warming is absolute truth.
Last summer my area enjoyed a couple of weeks of above normal temperatures. The local news couldn't get the global warming experts on fast enough to talk about melting ice caps, drowning polar bears, and redwood sized poison ivy plants. Their solutions were to drive hybrids, buy carbon offsets, switch to compact flourescent bulbs, and submit to global taxation. Kind of took the fun out of a rare heat wave. This winter, with temps well below average most days, not a peep from any of the same experts. At least Al Gore got a Nobel out of the deal.

My favorite road side rest
by frozen one ini went to a wedding on the other side of the state yesterday.
on my way home i stopped by my favorite road side rest.
i say this particular road side rest is my favorite because somebody always leaves a few watchtowers and awakes for weary travelers to take.

I totally forgot the return visit. Thanks for the reminder.
Does anyone else have "return visits" they purposely stop at when in the area? I think everyone wins. For the person who leaves the mags at the rest area, seeing freeminds.org will at a minimum flame their persecution complex and they might tell everyone at the hall about the mystery apostate which in turn might cause some to go look at freeminds for themselves. For the weary traveller who grabs the mags, they might go look at freeminds. And for me its just fun to do a bit to inform people.
